Twilight
Twilight is a strange time. The day has already ended, but the night has yet to begin. Familiar outlines lose their definition, and what once seemed ordinary suddenly takes on an entirely different meaning. This photographic series goes beyond the conventional way of looking at people and the world around us. Here, reality coexists with imagination, seriousness with absurdity, tenderness with unease. The characters find themselves in situations that defy explanation, yet perhaps it is precisely this uncertainty that allows us to see something more. And sometimes it becomes impossible to tell who is more unwell — the patient or the doctor. The black-and-white photographs gradually lead the viewer towards colour, where everything becomes even more surreal, almost theatrical. Yet the artist does not invite us to search for a single, definitive story. Each viewer may discover a story of their own. Welcome to Twilight. My heartfelt thanks to Anna Pechorina and Natalia Neberekutina for everything we experienced together, and to the entire team of like-minded souls behind Art in Twilight.
